PG76: The Trump Transition & the Future of the Democrats

This week, the Guys start off by talking about how the incoming Trump administration is coming along. While things looked a little rocky at first, once Mike Pence took over from ousted transition chair Chris Christie things began to go more smoothly. As expected, liberals are not at all happy with Trump’s initial choices for his administration, with the selection of Steve Bannon as chief political strategist being the pick that has people most up in arms. Mike and Jay review all the picks and talk about the speculation surrounding some of the next big administration nominations. They also discuss possibilities for financial conflicts of interest and nepotism in a Trump administration.

After that, it’s a look at how the Democrats are coping with their loss, and where they go from here. They focus on the upcoming selections for Democratic National Committee chair, which pits Howard Dean against newcomer Keith Ellison, and the House Minority Leader position, where longtime leader Nancy Pelosi is facing a challenge from Rust Belt Democrat Tim Ryan.

  1. I listened to your podcast and I can’t believe that you are broadcasting the racist views of Jay Carson.
You should be ashamed of your bigotry. We are a multicultural society and you defending white nationalism is horrifying. If someone comes to America and performs their ‘barbaric’ cultural practices of female gender mutilation, that is their right. We invited them here and if are just acting like a privileged white person who thinks that he knows that is right because you look down on the cultural practices. White people committed the crusades, yet you want to criticize the middle east traditions and culture? You disgust me. Assimilation is an action of white supremacy because it is an assertion that cultures can be superior to another one and that it is not relative. Jay should apologize for his bigotry otherwise he should really be removed and we can just enjoy the commentary from Michael.

  2. I’m new here, but thanks to you guys for *actually talking through the nuances of a difference on an issue*. It’s vital to have *some* forum where the specifics of particular beliefs and policies come out and how each side of a discussion sees a situation can be explored. Whether minds are changed or not, it’s good to be able to argue with an actual human instead of screaming at some demon you’ve constructed in your mind.

    1. Thanks so much! That’s what we always try to do, and it’s great to know when people feel we’re succeeding!
