PG79: Russian Election Influence, Cabinet Picks, Trump’s Tweets, Congress Works?

This week, the Guys start out by talking about ongoing controversies surrounding the 2016 presidential election. Now that Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein’s recount effort has mostly fizzled out, attention has focused onย the Russians, who the CIA has concluded attempted to influence the election in favor of Donald Trump. Both Jay and Mike are concerned, but Mike feels that Jay is downplaying the importance of this. Next, they look at – believe it or not -major legislation passed by Congress, in one case, passed with huge bipartisan majorities. After that, it’s a discussion of Donald Trump’s latest cabinet picks, and how the media should cover Trump’s tweets.

    1. Thanks so much! We never have considered doing the show live. Given how often one of says, ‘let’s stop a minute’ I’m not so sure it would be too good! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hey guys, awesome podcast!
I’m usually far on the side of Mike since I’m from one of those disgustingly liberal European countries, but this podcast I found myself agreeing with Jay over whether Russia’s actions were just normal. Heck, the CIA bugged the phone of the chancellor of Germany, it’s definitely not just Russia doing illegal hacking, they were just too obvious about it. Mike at one point said “but that’s different” when talking about what the US sometimes do to affect other countries elections. From the point of view of a third party, there doesn’t seem to be! If you could explain the difference I’d be interested ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, I love the podcast and listen religiously- keep it up!
